Congratulations to Judy Wegner on her 60th year of attending the Grand American tournament! During her first Grand American in 1963, Judy won the ladies doubles championship. As you can imagine, that caused quite a stir among the crowd.... |
Peoria Skeet and Trap member Hannah Martin, 19, of Pekin won the Illinois State Trapshooting Championships in the 142nd Illinois State Trapshooting Championship held June 13 thru 17 at Brittany Shooting Park in Bunker Hill. It is believed she is the first female to win the singles championship in the long history of the state shoot. Martin won two preliminary events with perfect scores of 100, smashed 200 more for another perfect score and broke an additional 200 in a row to prevail in a shoot-off with four others.
Mike Walker of St. Joseph, IL, celebrated a huge milestone on Sunday, April 15th at Lake Fork Sportsman's Club in Atwood, IL. Mike shot his 300,000th target in Singles running the last 25! Combined with Handicap and Doubles, he has shot over 600,000 targets. That's a lot of reloading, which he does all winter long! He talked to a few people who shot with him that day about his shooting history. Mike started shooting in 1992 with a Ruger Red Label. He switched over to a Kolar Combo in 2001 which was a present for his 30th wedding anniversary! Most of those 600,000 targets were shot with his Kolar. If you happen to see Mike at any Illinois shoot, the US Open or Grand American, make sure you congratulate him. This is a feat that not many will ever achieve! Great job, Mike!!
